Months of planning and organizing came down to two days... and a lot of things were just not meant to work out. On Thursday before our wedding some unpronauncable volcano in far away Iceland decided to wake up and spit fire, lava and ash. Hearing that on the news we thought, 'What the heck..' until we realized that most of the airspace in Europe is closed due to the ash in the atmosphere. The flights of half of our wedding guest had already been cancelled. Everyone tried to rebook for the flights on Friday and Saturday.
However news did not improve over the day and whilst we were travelling from Innsbruck to Germany, it became more and more clear that we could possible be looking at a lot of empty seats at our wedding party! That worst case scenarion became true on Friday evening. After a lot of tears and discuissions we decided to go ahead with our plans. Especially with the background of Paul's immediate family having embarked on a monster car/ferry journey from Dublin to Holyhead, then across the UK to Dover, to Calais across France and Belgium to Neuenbürg in the Black Forrest.
We were rewarded with a wonderful wedding service, THE most beautiful music in the church, the most cheerful and generous guests (mostly from Germany & Austria) and sunshine without end. Thanks to everyone who was there for taking part in this most special day in our lives. And to the Irish crowd - you were missed dearly!! Here are the first pictures. More will follow....
